Notably, the Enola Gay, the aircraft that dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, was produced here.

Following the war, Offutt AFB evolved into a critical command center for U.S. strategic defense. Today, it serves as the headquarters for United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), overseeing the nation’s nuclear arsenal, missile defense systems, and global strategic deterrence operations.
