Rosepine is a small community south of Leesville along U.S. Highway 171, roughly 15 minutes from the post. It has a rural, small-town feel and a well-regarded local school, which draws families who want a little more space without a long drive.
Anacoco
Anacoco sits northwest of Leesville, about 15 minutes from the main gate. It is more rural and quiet, with room to spread out. Families who want country living close to the post often consider it.
DeRidder
DeRidder is in Beauregard Parish, south of the post, about 30 minutes from the main gate. It is a larger town with more shopping, restaurants, and services. It is a good option if you want more amenities and do not mind a slightly longer commute.
Alexandria and Pineville
Alexandria and the neighboring city of Pineville sit northeast of the post, about 50 to 60 minutes away. Together they form the largest hub in the region, with the widest range of housing, shopping, medical care, and an airport. The daily drive is the longest on this list, so it tends to work best for families whose schedules can absorb the commute.
